I care for people deeply and want so much for them to see how capable they are TODAY. Then they can look back some day and realize life is just a bunch of todays that they tried at and look what can be done with that daily effort! I'm very much intrigued by the mental improvements that fitness provides. You are certainly worthy of taking care of and getting someone to believe that about themselves is often our greatest achievement.
8 years ago, I was a year and a half out from having our 4th baby. 4 in 7 1/2 years so I was tired. I had spent the previous couple years being more active with classes at the Y then I had since I stopped playing basketball, but I was frustrated and didn't feel good. My husband had just started doing these weird workouts from a website a colleague had told him about and he somehow convinced me and a friend to "just try it for a month". At that point, I was frustrated enough to try it. I complained frequently, I knew nothing, I scaled EVERYTHING, I was weak, like REALLY weak, slow, and difficult to teach. A real joy, you might say. I thought about quitting a few times, I took a month off here and there, but I didn't quit. I kept doing those weird workouts in the basement of the YMCA. I kept doing them and I got stronger and faster and I learned more. I would have quit a million times if it weren't for my friends that joined me and a VERY patient husband who shared his knowledge whether I wanted to hear it or not.
I can honestly say now, I can't imagine life without CrossFit. It has weaved its way into our lives in the most amazing ways. We are all changed for the better because of it.
Motivation & Passion
I genuinely love people. All of them. I find humanity fascinating. I love seeing a person build confidence in their own abilities which then we see cascade through their every day lives. My body image was so positively affected by starting CrossFit that I feel particularly drawn to those conversations with women. How we talk to ourselves and view our bodies is a powerful force and I work really hard to help women change that inner dialogue to be positive and encouraging.
My motivation for coaching is in the interactions. I love coaching the movements, but I am motivated by the community it creates. There is such joy in giving people a space to grow and build relationships that they may otherwise not have found!
